Pastoral Care

Chaplain

A big welcome to Janine Blake who is our new YouthCARE Chaplain. She is available at school every Tuesday and Friday.

What does a Chaplain do?

At Hollywood Primary School, we follow a philosophy of providing pastoral care for our students as part of our aim in achieving academic excellence.  Working with our Student Services Team, Chaplaincy is an important part of our strategy. Our School Chaplaincy Service is provided through YouthCARE, underpinned by values of care, respect, compassion, and service.

YouthCARE Chaplains focus on the well-being of the school community, providing holistic and non-judgemental pastoral care to students, school staff and families, irrespective of their faith or cultural backgrounds.

The pastoral care provided has a broad scope and may include one on one and programmed group sessions, addressing physical and mental health issues, relationship concerns, social and values education, behaviour management, emotional support, and professional referrals among other out workings. Any support and programs facilitated are always delivered in consultation and collaboration with the school leadership team and teaching staff, and in partnership with parents and caregivers.

How to access the chaplain?

As part of the Student Services team, the chaplain can be accessed by students, staff and families through the Student Services process. Any request for individual engagement with a student can be submitted through the school leadership (Principal/Deputy Principal) and consent is always completed with the parents. Confidentiality is always prioritised.

If you would like any further information or feel the chaplain may be of value, please do not hesitate to make contact with the school.

School Psychologist

The school has a part-time psychologist on staff who attends the school regularly. Psychological intervention is subject to educational needs only. Parental permission is required where a child is identified as in need of educational assessment. Parents are kept fully informed throughout every educational partnership.
